VETERINARY RESEARCH SCIENTIST – DVM
 
We seek a Veterinary Research Scientist (DVM) to be responsible for a wide spectrum of duties that include prescribing medication and administering treatment plans, disease studies and the development of new technologies, providing oversight of animal care and protocol compliance, working closely with other scientists, key collaborators, research coordinators, technicians and support staff to ensure animal well-being and the successful execution of a portfolio of projects and initiatives for a global manufacturer of vaccines and ingredient additives.
 
Ensure the health and welfare of research animals: prevent and treat diseases, develop prevention programs, etc.
Diagnose diseases. Develop and implement disease prevention programs.
Develop protocols and monitoring of procedures (quarantine, diagnostic procedures, etc.)
Identify, develop, and implement innovative solutions to improve research outcomes
Conduct animal health procedures, coordinate quarantine and preventative programs 
Perform statistical analysis on systems and projects | necropsies | animal challenge models | data analytics
Analyze data and processes. 
Report on findings – make recommendations. 
Write technical research papers technical literature for publication in scientific journals
Present findings at industry related conferences, attend trade shows and/or seminars
Ensure compliance with all regulations and ethical guidelines governing animal research
Educate on Best Practices in Animal Care. Train staff on proper care and handling procedures.
Maintain detailed records for regulatory compliance and research integrity

QUALIFICATIONS:
DVM/VMD degree 
Active veterinary licensure in at least (1) USA state
Clinical research experience – at least 2 YEARS
Solid veterinary diagnostic skills
Clinical research experience in ruminant/monogastric
Knowledge on ABSL-1 | ABSL-2 requirements
Team player. Highly organized with strong communication skills
Must live in Illinois. Travel: 10%
