We are seeking an experienced and driven Sow Farm Manager to oversee the daily operations of a sow production facility for a leader in pork production. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff and ensuring the efficient and profitable operation of the farm while prioritizing animal health, welfare, and safety.
THE ROLE:
  • Team Leadership: Lead, train, and manage farm personnel to maximize productivity and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Production Management: Develop and implement efficient production schedules and management practices that optimize sow performance and health.
  • Health and Biosecurity: Maintain strict biosecurity protocols and oversee animal health programs to prevent disease and ensure welfare.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze production data, identifying trends and areas for improvement to enhance productivity.
  • SOP Development: Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) that ensure high standards of animal husbandry, safety, and environmental stewardship.
  • Resource Management: Monitor and manage feed, supplies, and equipment to control costs and ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Budget Management: Assist in preparing and adhering to production budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities where possible.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate production records and generate regular reports on key performance indicators for management.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing a sow production facility or similar operation. Farrowing or Breeding leads with 3 to 5 years of experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of swine production, animal husbandry, and biosecurity practices.
  • Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
Work Environment:
  • Agricultural Setting: Ability to work in a rural agricultural environment with exposure to swine and associated equipment.
  • Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, and ability to be on feet for extended periods. Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and lifting.
